I discovered Softz through a comment he leaved on Tier’s site. I don’t regret for even a second to have clicked on his avatar. Besides overviews of figures and nendos, Softz made us dream via coverages of his travels (recently Korea). A very informative blog, truly! Moreover, Softz is a person i really appreciate.

J’ai découvert Softz via un commentaire qu’il avait laissé sur le site de Tier . Je ne regrette pas une seule seconde d’avoir cliqué sur son avatar. En plus des quelques présentations de figurines et nendos, Softz nous fait rêver via les reportages de ses visites (récemment la Corée). Un blog très instructif, vraiment! De plus, Softz est une personne que j’apprécie beaucoup.

My Passion For Figures

I could still remember how happy and amazed I was when I received my first fix-it-yourself helicopter model kit. I tried my best to assemble them. But, of course, at such a young age, I only managed to get the body and chopper up and lost the rest of the smaller pieces. *LOL* Nevertheless, it was still a very enjoyable experience and I can still remember it vividly up till today! From then onwards, I have always liked model kits and diorama very much.

At the age of 15, my friend introduced me to the Dragon Ball manga. Since then, I bought several series of others like Slam Dunk, Dear Boys, Boys Be, IS », Kimagure Orange Road, Ichigo 100% and the list goes on. As a fan of Ah My Goddess!, I bought my very first figure, Belldandy, back in year 2000, from some local comic shop. The quality isn’t as good as those of GSC, MegaHouse and Alter. Seriously, I don’t even who is the manufacturer. *LOL* Subsequently, my collection size grew with the addition of trading figures like, Tifa, Katsumi, Lei Fang, and Ayana. I like the DOA girls very much. They are sensual and voluptous virtual beauties.

Recently, last year, I bought my first, I consider decent, figure (though second hand), Kanu Unchou, from E-Bay at 25 USD with no shipping cost. I was so excited to own such better detailed figures as compared to those previously bought. Since then, I always keep a look out on figures, especially those attractive and pretty ones.

So, that’s how my passion for figures developed.

How did my blog start?

One may ask how did my blogging activity actually start. I’ve never enjoyed writing. Yes! Never! In fact, I’ve to admit that I hate writing. As a software engineer, I’m only required to write codes. However, one day, I was trying to write a piece of code which I wrote three years ago, only to find out that I had totally forgotten on how to even write it. It took me some time to recall after an intensive googling. As a result, I decided to start a blog as a reference and to share my programming experience so that my reader could gain and learn faster than going through a huge detour to find the solutions.

As for figurines’ posts, I happened to bump into Tier’s blog and find it intriguing to share and post photos and reviews of figurines in blog. Therefore, you would also see me posting figurine reviews on and off whenever I can.

Lastly, since I’m already sharing my experience in programming and figures collections, I thought it would be interesting to share some of my other experiences including food and travels.

My objective of this blog is to give my readers an insight of what to expect, what to avoid and what to do if they happened to do the same thing which I had been through, so that they can gain better results or experiences.

As a result, my blog descriptions are as follows.

Ce que j’apprécie le plus sur le blog de Faddy : ses histoires de Capitain Drossel!  Il ne manquera pas de vous faire rire! Il a toujours de bonnes idées. Qui plus est, il a récemment renouvelé le design de son blog et ce nouveau look rend la lecture encore plus agréable.

« Well, I started out with Gundam, as most people would know, but I always had some kind of attraction to anime figurines. When I visited my cousin’s house once in awhile, I would stare at some of his anime figurines and said to myself, « Would I buy these things in the future? » After watching more and more anime by late 2009, I felt the need to get at least one anime figure. So I decided to buy myself a figma Saber armor version. After taking her out of the box and played around with her poses, I was immediately hooked! So I went and bought myself a couple more figmas and revoltechs. I bought figma Drossel on an impulse but little did I know that this figma was going to be one of my most favourite figure ever! She’s so fun to pose and she’s incredibly stable because of her bigger footing area compared to normal figmas. Nendoroids came a bit later and these little cute figures were so adorable!! I never regret getting my Mio and Rin kagamine nendoroids ^^ Now my blog’s starting to get overrun by figure story posts instead of gundam posts but I’m fine with that. If I had not bought any figurines, my blog posts might have been less entertaining and more serious, but now that I’ve acquired a couple of figmas/revoltechs/nendoroids, my posts are more fun to read I guess? Heheh I hope to get more and more figurines this year so that I can make wonderful figure stories and who knows, maybe my gundams can join in the fun in my future posts? All I know is that December was the moment I fell into the realm of figurines and it’s probably one of the most interesting months I’ve ever had. »

Rock lee’s Lotus

If you like laughing, here’s an awesome blog! Not only that Rocklee is creative and creates stories with his nendos will make you roll on the floor laughing (i had many hard laughters) but he draws and create very nice comics strips. Each readings is a true moment of pleasure.

Si vous aimer rire , voici un blog super génial! Non seulement Rocklee est créatif et réalise  des histoires avec ses nendos qui vous feront vous tordre de rire (j’ai d’ailleurs eu plusieurs fou rire) mais en plus il dessine et réalise des strip bien sympathiques. I started my blog mainly to document and share my figure collection with others. I really enjoy looking at other peoples photos and figure collections; whether it be a short story or professional shoot.

It has also been a great chance to begin using a digital camera. I’d never used a camera until I started my blog, so I hope I’m improving as I go along.

I’m now using my blog to comment on the various anime I watch and anything “different” happening in my life. I initially included my engineering work, but figures & engineering don’t really look “right” together. So for now I’ve separated them both.

Why do I enjoy collecting figures?

I’ve always enjoyed collecting things; whether it’s “Mighty Max”, “Pogz”, “Pokemon”. During my high school years I collected and painted miniatures. However my interest in this dwindled and I stopped altogether.

Now however – thanks to anime & various Japanese pop culture websites – I find myself enjoying the world of figure collecting.

For me owning a figure is like being able to feel as if I own a part of an anime series. I’m always on the look out for the different characters I can identify; and any I particularly like.

But not just that. Some are so captivating I just have to own them. After seeing “Char Rhousemann” by Good Smile Company I instantly knew I had to have her amongst my collection, even though I have no idea who she is.

Collecting figmas is also nice because you can pose and play around with them. So being able to create a storyboard with them can be quite fun – and reading other peoples stories is equally fun.

And finally, as I stated earlier, sharing my collection with the figure collecting community is great fun. I hope to continue posting about my newest figure interests and purchases – and continue to discover new and exciting blogs/websites with the people who share their collections.

Chag is a blogger i knew via Flickr. And that’s funny because he was the first one to receive a link to Lylibellule.biz when the site wasn’t started yet. Chag is a gifted person in writing and take us dreaming with his texts always complete and perfectly structured.

I don’t remember how i got on Xine’s website but what’s certain is that i regret to not have knew about it sooner. A varied and interesting site at all levels who deserve to get a greater audience.

A very recent website but who knows a fuliginous success. I would even say it’s the only site i read who received so many comments on it’s very first post. Does Katsura-chan possess a secret to attract readers ?
What’s completely certain is that you’ll find a friendly atmosphere and posts on various subjects, concise and so, pleasant to read.
Katsura is one of my compatriot since she’s Belgian and she’s a very great girl

Un site tout récent mais qui connait un succès fulgurant. Je dirais même que c’est bien un des seuls site que je lis qui a reçu autant de commentaires dès son premier post. Katsura-chan aurait-elle un secret pour attirer les lecteurs ?

Ce qui est certain c’est que vous y trouverez une ambiance sympathique et des articles variés, concis et donc plaisant à lire.

Katsura est une de mes compatriote puisqu’elle est Belge et c’est une fille vraiment géniale.

I’m familiar with manga for a very long time now. I remember clearly when i bought my first one, it was 13 years ago when i found the first volume of Gunnm in a bookshop.
Also i was devouring shows like Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball on tv. All those get me to know more and more about japanese comics and animation.
Internet was just starting and it was kinda hard for me to acquire new mangas, no real shops existed in my neighborhood and as a student i didn’t have very much pocket
money to spent.
I remember clearly sparing secretly the money my mother gave me to eat at school to buy stuff like mangas, comic books and small dragon ball figures. I would have
preferred Sailor Moon figures but i guess the market was mainly focused on boys at that time. I still have the figures, they’re very small and the quality is awful
As i said, there wasn’t only figures and mangas in my basket. I love traditional comics and Belgium is famous for it’s richness in comic books.
My passion for mangas really rocket away in university since i had to go to Bruxelles, as it’s the capital city there’s a lot of place where you can buy japanese
related stuff.
I can’t recall exactly but i spent thousand of the belgian money in usage at that time. More than 70% of my collection were bought during this period, it’s amazing
when i think of it now
Well of course animes followed the same path
Figures started later since it was too expensive for the money i had as a student. But now that i have a job i’m more and more tempted and my collection is slowly growing
in numbers.
Now about my blog (that’s why you’re reading this after all ). It was born in december. I always wanted to do something on internet since a friend told me
the domain name sailormoon.be was available. After having a « Coming soon » page for years, i discussed about this with my very best friend and the next day my blog
was created.
My mother tongue is French but since English is widely used on internet i choose to do my blog exclusively using that language.
I was very surprised to discover how sweet people behind the blogosphere are and the success of my blog is even more surprising to me. ^^

I knew Arch through Over-blog when i started again Lylibellule. The look of his blog caught my interest. After reading his firsts posts, i was directly charmed by how he wrote and how he shaped his subjects. I’m always waiting impatiently each of his posts.

J’ai connu Arch  via Over-blog lorsque j’ai recommencé l’écriture de Lylibellule. La présentation de son blog m’avait interpellé. Et après lecture de ses premiers articles, j’ai été directement conquise par sa façon d’écrire et de présenter ses sujets. J’attends toujours avec impatience chacun de ses posts.

 » C’est pas nouveau, les passionnés d’animation japonaise et de mangas se font de moins en moins rare. Pour ma part, la série FullMetal Alchemist annonce ma venue dans le monde le l’animation lorsque elle était diffusée par une fameuse chaîne française finissant par un +. J’arbore une certaine originalité de ne pas avoir démarrer avec un shônens connu type série fleuve comme beaucoup font de nos jours.

De fil en aiguille, j’ai appris à apprécier les séries que je regardais jusqu’à Gunslinger Girl qui fut le choc qui me propulsa littéralement dans ce qu’on pouvait vraiment appeler une passion. J’achetais alors des mangas. L’excellent GTO fut le premier d’une longue collection qui approche aujourd’hui les 300 volumes. Il m’arrive à présent d’acheter figurines, artbooks, produits dérivés et doujinshis. Hélas, ces éléments arrivant au second plan par manque de moyens.

Ainsi, et afin de vivre cette passion de la meilleur façon qui soit, j’écris quelques critiques des séries que je regarde (ou lis) pour mettre mes propres idées en place et savoir de quoi je parle. Il s’agit là de l’objet de mon blog, avant tout fait pour moi, mais aussi pour ceux qui seraient désireux de découvrir, contredire des avis sortant des limites de la presse spécialisée, au discours parfois publicitaire et grand publique. Le blog évolue lui aussi. Pourquoi pas vers quelque chose de plus ambitieux, qui touche un publique plus large avec un contenu plus conséquent et fréquent. »
